pH Test Strips are used for the straightforward monitoring of the acid level in the mash. The pH value is important during alcoholic fermentation because the growth of the yeast depends strongly on the correct acid range.
Key benefits at a glance
- measuring range of pH 2 to 9
- suitable for the important range of alcoholic fermentation
- differences of 0.5 pH are easy to read
- three different indicator zones on one strip
- helps to identify unfavourable pH values at an early stage
- useful for preventing off-fermentations and kahm yeast
Why the pH value is important
If the pH value in the mash is too high or too low, this can weaken the desired yeast and encourage unwanted micro-organisms. As a result, the risk of off-fermentations and kahm yeast increases.
Why these test strips are more accurate
The pH test strips have three different display zones that change colour depending on the pH value. This makes it possible to read the pH value in the relevant fermentation range more precisely than with many simple test strips that have only one indicator zone.
Application and additions
To set the correct pH value in the mash, Biogen-M is suitable. For fermentation a Turbo Yeast can be used.
