Vinometer

Measuring instrument for determining the alcohol content of mash at low alcohol concentrations.

The Vinometer is a practical measuring instrument for the rapid estimation of low alcohol concentrations, especially in the range below 20 %vol. It is suitable for wine, mash, must, beer and other liquids close to fermentation, when a simple orientation regarding the alcohol content is desired.

Important properties

  • Suitable for: low alcohol concentrations below approx. 20 %vol
  • Application: wine, mash, must, beer and starchy liquids
  • Sample quantity: approx. 1 to 3 ml
  • Measuring time: only a few seconds
  • Benefit: usable also with liquids containing extract and sugar

Important note on measurement

The Vinometer provides a quick orientation, but not an exact laboratory analysis. Sugar, extract substances, sediment and other components can influence the result. For very precise alcohol determinations or difficult samples, the Alcohol Analysis Set is more suitable.

Distinction from the alcoholmeter

For clear distillates and higher alcohol contents, the alcoholmeter is the better choice. The Vinometer is particularly practical at low alcohol values and with small sample quantities.
