Turbo Yeast, for High-Strength Fermentation up to 20 %vol, 115 g

 12,01 inkl. USt.

Turbo Yeast 115 g for controlled fermentation batches up to 20 %vol, suitable for fruit mash or sugar water with clean batch management.

Turbo Yeast 115 g is a Swedish specialist yeast for the production of high-strength mashes. By adding sugar and Turbo Yeast, an alcohol content of up to 20 %vol can be reached already in the mash. Conventional fruit mashes generally reach only about 2 to 8 %vol, depending on the fruit variety.

Unlike conventional mashes, high-strength mashes do not need to be double-distilled. This can result in a higher yield and more flavour retained in the distillate. Further background information can be found in the book Schnapsbrennen als Hobby (Spirit Distillation as a Hobby).

Properties and benefits

  • 115 g of Turbo Yeast for up to 100 litres of fruit mash or 25 litres of sugar water
  • for high-strength mashes up to approx. 20 %vol of alcohol
  • higher yield and more flavour in the distillate are possible
  • free of heads when used correctly, according to the manufacturer
  • high alcohol content helps to prevent off-fermentations and kahm yeast
  • no musty or mouldy off-odours such as occur with some turbo yeasts from other manufacturers
  • includes a short German-language guide for fruit mash and sugar water

Application

The Turbo Yeast is suitable for fruit mashes and for pure sugar water. Sugar water is used when a tasteless alcohol is to be produced that can later be used for macerated spirits (Geist), liqueurs or infusions.

For mashing in fruit, Liquefier and Biogen M are additionally required. Depending on the type of fruit, Gärfix for Pome Fruit, Gärfix for Stone and Berry Fruit or Gärfix Spezial can be useful.

Matching accessories

For monitoring the sugar content an Oechsle hydrometer can be used. For clean work, a measuring cylinder, beaker or the 500 ml Erlenmeyer flask are also suitable. With foaming batches an anti-foam agent can be helpful.

Note

An active fermentation batch must not be sealed pressure-tight. For a protected fermentation an airlock and a matching stopper for the airlock are suitable.
