The airlock enables clean, pressure-free fermentation. Carbon dioxide can escape from the fermentation vessel, while unwanted microorganisms, vinegar flies and fruit flies are kept out.
Benefits at a glance
- carbon dioxide can escape without pressure
- protects against vinegar flies, fruit flies and foreign microorganisms
- useful for mash, wine and other fermentation batches
- helps to avoid faulty fermentation and contamination
- easy to use with a matching stopper
Application
The airlock is inserted into the matching stopper for airlock. The stopper is fitted into a suitable opening in the lid of the fermentation vessel. The batch then remains protected without pressure building up inside the vessel.
The airlock is filled with a little liquid. This forms a simple barrier: gas can escape, but air, insects and foreign microorganisms do not pass directly into the vessel.
Additions
Clean mash management helps to avoid faulty fermentation and to improve the quality of the spirit. Suitable products include a turbo yeast, Biogen-M, Liquefier Spezial and a matching stopper for airlock.
For strongly foaming batches, anti-foam agent can be helpful.
